Do you work with fondant and create fondant cakes?
While we do use fondant for accents and decor, our cakes are exclusively covered in buttercream. The only exception for this is if it is a predominately hand painted cake.
Will you replicate an image of a cake I found?
Beauty, ingenuity and artistic expression are core values of The Unbirthday Baker LLC; therefore, we do not replicate the designs of other cake makers. You are most welcome to send us pictures of other cakes to use as inspiration in the cake we create for you.
Where is The Unbirthday Baker LLC based?
We are a cottage bakery nestled in Central, LA.
Do you offer cake tastings?
Cake sample boxes typically containing 6 different pairings are offered seasonally-- preferably every 3-4 months. The boxes are created with love and plenty of cake to share! Anyone can purchase a sample box; however, we offer complimentary cake sample boxes to wedding couples who book with us. The boxes are first come first serve and lists begin accumulating before the next boxes are posted. Please reach out if you are interested.
How much does The Unbirthday Baker charge per cake?
All of our cakes are customized to suit your celebration and personal taste. As such, the cost can vary according to size and design. You can find our comprehensive pricing guide here which will provide you with the base cost of our cakes including the cake size as specified. For a more accurate idea of pricing, it is best to submit a bespoke cake quote.
Cake Variations
Every cake is handmade, from scratch. As such, no two cakes will ever be exactly the same. Photographs of previously completed cakes are to be used as a general guide only.
I am a bride-to-be! How can I acquire a wedding cake consultation?
Let's talk sugar! If you are a bride-to-be, I would love to get together over coffee to discuss all of the sweet details about your wedding cake. You can reach out to me here.
What are some tips for transporting my cake?
The Unbirthday Baker makes every effort to ensure our cakes are sturdily constructed, and professionally boxed for maximum security. However, when transporting your cake, care is still needed.
A cake is best transported on a flat, level surface – so a vehicle seat is a big no-no as the cake will slide backwards; the best place for your cake will either be in a foot well with a towel underneath to provide a non-slip surface. If these aren’t available options, then a passenger can carry the cake.
Do I need to refrigerate my cake?
We advise you to take your cake out of the fridge for 1-2 hours before serving, as cake is best eaten at room temperature, for optimal flavour and texture.
